Summer Speed Showdown Rules
This tournament will be played with Speed Lacrosse Rules.
- The games will be 3 vs 3 with no equipment - Short Sticks Only.
- One player on defense should play goalie, so the offense will typically have a 3-2 advantage, encouraging passing and off ball movement.
- A minimum of 1 pass must be completed before shots will count as goals.
- For U8s, each attempted pass without losing possession will add points to a goal when scored - so a team attempting 5 passes and scoring before losing possession will gain a 5 point goal.
- The emphasis is finesse and skill over physicality - there is no body checking and stick checks should be sparse. When checking, it should be downward only with a minimal windup. Any check deemed reckless will be a play-on penalty (the offending team will lose possession once they gain it, if a goal is scored the penalty is waved off.)
- Ground balls taking more than 5 seconds to gain possession will be blown dead with Alternating Possession awarded.
- Each game will consist of two 15 minute halves with a 5 minute break.
- Max roster size per team is 5. Minimum roster is 4.
- At Registration you can enter any friends/teammates your kids would like play with and we will create teams based on this input.
- When registering, use the Age/Division groups based on the athlete's Spring '23 registration (if they played in 10U the past spring but will advance to 12U next spring, they should register as a 10U for this tournament).
